AverageMy parents hosted a Chinese Banquet dinner on Sunday after our wedding. It wasn't your typical Chinese banquet event since we only had about 100 people, but it was a good compromise since my parents got to celebrate with a bunch of of their friends and we were able to keep our wedding guestlist to just those people that DH and I know really well. We chose this location of ABC Seafood (they also have one in Milpitas) since it was recently remodeled and looks really nice and modern. It's also a convenient location if you have guests coming from both the South Bay and the city, and parking is very easy. Overall, dinner was good but not amazing. With most banquets I've been to before, you pay a set price per table of 10, rather than per person, and each table gets the same amount of food. Well on the day of they told us that they would charge us more per table for any table with more than 10 people (including infants and young children). We weren't going to make people move, since they obviously chose to sit where they wanted to, but it irritated me that still charged the full table price for a table of less than 10, but then charged us more for tables that had 11 or 12 even though they got the same amount of food. My dad also complained that they would not tell him until the day of what fresh fish would be available. But, overall it was still a nice atmosphere (we got the private room to ourself) and service was pretty good. Their wine list is also pretty good for a tradition Chinese restaurant.
