Another vendor who was unknown on the Knot. Meeting Connie for the first time was like going over to your favorite aunt? house for cookies and tea. She? such a sweet and mellow person. She teaches floral design at a local college, but does weddings and enter floral design competition on her own time. I was looking for someone who can do simple but unique architectural/sculptural-like pieces (but not too crazy), since I? not much of a flower-y person. She was referred to me by another designer (who was referred to me by a knottie) who does such work. I couldn? find any photos of exact alter pieces or arrangements I wanted, so I brought Connie about 20 photos of random arrangements just to give her a vision of the style I was looking for (and then I had to sketch her what I had on mind with my limited artistic ability?. I gave very little instructions as to what flowers to be used or how they would be arranged (because I didn? really care as much as what the overall feeling would be). Through the course of our meetings, we came in sync with using all neutral colors, and the centerpieces being one type of flower in each. The day-of, I was floored by the arrangements at my venue. They were gorgeous!!!!!!! And that? coming from me?someone who typically doesn? care much for flowers. I had asked and expected smaller centerpieces, but can? really complain there. The knottie who referred me to the first designer has now become a wedding coordinator, so I referred Connie back to her. I?e heard that the other bride(s) who has used Connie have been just as happy as myself. Oh, here? a tip for future brides: provide your florist with tags with title (BM, GM, MOB, etc) AND names for each of the personal flowers. Passing out the flowers would be such an ease because of this. I?e been to many weddings where the family members are confused as to who gets what flowers.
* we also considered Yolanda Frazier of Lily of the Nile Flowers (she owns a closet sized shop in Fremont. I liked her because she? studied Ikebana, is very enthusiastic, has great ideas, very reasonably priced. She got booked on my date while I was contemplating), Crispy of Natalini Flowers.
