klau* - 05/12/2006 AwesomeI can't say I expected much in the way of service from a Chinese restaurant, but Legendary Palace really surprised me in a positive way. Finnie was the person we mostly dealt with, and she speaks English so that helped a lot (I speak Cantonese, but am much more comfortable discussing details in English). She was always patient with our questions, made sure we understood all the details of the contract and pricing, made accommodations for how we wanted to set up our reception area with a separate favor table and sign in table, and was generally just very easy to work with. I didn't get to eat nearly as much of the food as I wanted (even though there were 10 courses), but what I had tasted good. The room has lovely chandeliers and tons of windows with nice gold-toned curtains flanking them. The free parking at a lot just a block away is a nice plus too. The only downsides to Legendary are the hideous carpet and the somewhat tacky looking exterior. Overall though I was very happy with them and their level of service.
chopstick - 03/31/2006 GoodOne of the newer banquet place in oakland, so the decor inside (with import chandeliers) is a bit nicer than other places. The restaurant has two floors, with the second floor being larger than the first. The elevator/stair is located in the middle of the restaurant, so if you were to take the entire second floor for your banquet, some tables will not see the front at all. There is a free parking lot about one block away from the restaurant and the Renaissance plaza parking lot is about 2 blocks away. Haven't been to an actually banquet here, but the dim sum is on par, if not better than Restaurant Peony.
